Wrestlers, Girls lose after layoff

After the bitter cold put a stop to school for the week, both the wrestlers and the basketball girls found themselves losing big. The girls lead in Keokuk, 22-19 during the second quarter, but let it get away after a poor 2nd half. 62-31 was the final. The girls travel to Osky on Saturday. The boys host Iowa City-Regina Saturday night

In wrestling, the Washington boys struggled to win matches, and ended up losing big. Wheeler, Kay, Walgren, and Stout all won for the Demons.

Washington sweeps Albia, boys on last second shot

The Washington girls played very well, despite some turnover issues, to win solidly against Albia. Cassey Sobaski had one of the best games in her young career, with 28 points and 5 three-pointers. Syd Greiner has 7 pts and two steals, Jonte Thorton had (at least) 9 rebounds. Smeins had 6 points.

The boys pulled off a late rally, and a last second shot after playing poorly throughout, missing a lot of underneath shots and getting into foul trouble. Alex Vogel saved the game, with a late steal with 8 seconds left and a buzzer beating jumper to lead the boys to a 53-51 win. Gardner had 15 points, and Vogel and 15 pt.

A very long weekend

Needless to say, it was just a tough weekend for both basketball teams. Everyone played their butts off, but sometimes the shots don't fall, the passes are wide, and the fouls keep coming and it equals four close losses. After two four point contests on Friday night at Mt. Pleasant and in Washington, two, last second shots really hurt both teams. Pictures should be up on here today, and facebook if I can ever find an hour to do so. (Tipton scores below)

Tipton:
Girls lose 50-48
Boy lose 74-71
