Krebs, Gardner to return after break

An update on some injury news, Jena Krebs rehab has made some big time improvements, and she looks to be back when we get back from break. Gardner was lightly practicing before we went to break, and should be near 100% as we head into the homestretch. Going to Demons' practices tomorrow...more to come.

Merry Christmas!!!

It's a majority of everyone's favorite holiday of the year, and finally all of the athletes, fans, and coaches get a well deserved vacation as we make our way to the new year! Next week, I'll be pokin' around all of the Demon practices as every team gets ready to make a run at the U.S. Cellular dome in March. Updates on Monday, Thursday, and we'll be back to the regular show when everyone is back at WHS! Merry Christmas, safe travels to all, and we'll see you guys later!

Washington teams win heading into break

Both the boys and the girls have won heading into the break, a break sure to be filled with practices and scrimmages a plenty to get ready for the January stretch run. West Branch liked to complain quite a bit. There was a lot of scoring in both games and both were close, tense games. If you didn't catch it, yesterday's KCII sports page was my amazing voice giving you the details. More to come. Pictures are delayed, haven't had too much sleep.

Winter Weather messes up schedules

Well after an already busy season has us all scrambling all over the place, the mother of all storms is here this evening. Wrestling has been cancelled. The practices tonight have been pushed back. I got the pleasure of watching the girls practice, and they are certainly reved up for tomorrow night's game, which would give them the conference lead before break. Coach Long put it best:

Weather permitting, we should have a fun and busy weekend of Demon Sports. Stay safe of the roadways, and make sure that you don't get frozen in! I'll be giving you the action on my blog, through your favorite pictures, and on the mic!

It looks like our amazing ladies haven't arrived yet, but we are in the 3rd quarter of the JV game. Fun times in Fairfield.

Girls and boys alike, playing in Fairfield. We should likely have live updates, maybe pictures, from the game as we post.

Here is a pic of the final match of the night last night for wrestling, as Joel Vittetoe, and the Demons, get their hands raised in victory.

The Washington Demons win their meet 39-37 in Fairfield. Joel Vittetoe clinched it with a decisive pin fall victory. We will have a picture or two in the afternoon tomorrow, congrats!

Demon girls injury updates, Jena Krebs said this afternoon at practice that she may be able to return from her Torn MCL, barring no setbacks in her rehab. Macy Wright should be back on the practice court on Monday, returning from a sprained foot/ankle.

Pictures tomorrow of the boys basketball team as well, both teams tomorrow night travel to Fairfield, boys first then girls, might have the computer with me for play-by-play, depends on what I'll have with me!

Krebs update, soccer girls hold meeting

Thanks, Laura, for the update on your sister. Laura has send, if you didn't catch the comment, the Jena is out for the season with a torn MCL, with no surgery and she is currently working through physical therapy. I am only one person, if any readers have any updates, leave a comment or shoot me an email, aschneiderjr@gmail.com. Thanks!

Otherwise today I don't have much new news to report on, we have a very busy weekend ahead, with the girls and boys on their way to Fairfield and a home bowling meet this Saturday.

The soccer girls held their 3:45 meeting today, with a solid turnout of 17 girls, four of which (at last count) were freshman.

Early Out! Slow sports day folks!

Here is one of the many pictures Ryan Bell took at the Durant win, thanks again Ryan! This is of Rich, Ossman, Gaal, and Libe watching the game while taking a break on the bench.

Nothing much happening in Sports today seeing as we have a two-hour delay, soon enough, we should have some Basketball and Wrestling stats up on washingtonianonline.org

Here is a small sample of what is to come in the Sydney Greiner interview, I don't wanna give too much away, and it still might change!

What was your first night of varsity like?
"I was really nervous, I was kind of messed up, it was a bigger deal than anything at the time."

Injury Updates for the Girls

Demon fans reading the paper during Mid-Prairie introductions. Nice choice of Newspaper!!!

On the injury update front, the girls were stuck in a tough time on Saturday, despite their big win against Eddysville-Blakesburg 58 to 33. Jena Krebs was the only player not playing, but Lucy Libe played with what is believed to be a sprained knee, Jonte tweaked her ankle, and Greta Smeins and Cassey Sobaski played with the flu bug.

Washington boys dominate, Girls get hurt

Well Washington decimated Durant on Friday night, we will have pictures from Ryan Bell (thanks) tomorrow, 67-51. Vogel dropped 25 points on Durant and the team is 1-1 before conference begins.

For the Demon girls, word is the Lucy Libe has a sprained knee after Friday morning practice and Jena Krebs possibly has a torn ligament in her knee. Sydney Greiner and Caitlin Fishback should see more time as the season wears on. We also will have a part of the Greiner interview this week and the full story on the Freshman stud in the December edition of the Washingtonian!

Demon Wrestlers perform well

Despite a lot of talent on the L and M side of things, the Demon Wrestlers performed very well at pack the gym night. The night was very long, four hours for the meet. We gave away some great Demon apparel as well. The match of the night was the clincher by Dusty Dittrich when he put the duel out of reach for Highland with a big time win by fall. Tyler McDonald also impressed winning his matches in the heavyweight class with ease. Adrian McMullen went 1-1 on the night. Find out more at washingtonianonline.com

Washington loses 57-21 versus L and M

Girls Practice Hard for Saturday's Game, Sydney Greiner interview, Pack the Gym Night

The girl's team continues to work hard after their start of the season, working on their shooting and free throws as I passed on by and observed. The players were dropping them down from all over the place!

I also sat down and talked with Interim Manager Macy Wright as she continues to work back from an ankle injury suffered in Mediapolis as she was playing basketball. See the picture tomorrow of the aftermath!

Tonight is pack the gym night, so check in for wrestling updates as soon as we get them!

These pictures are all taken by me, Andrew, so do not copy them without me knowing, just shoot me an e-mail!
